He married his wife Jane D. Russell, a teacher, (Daughter of John Russell and Ellen Day) on 24 January 1872. They had around 10 children together. William was famed as the discoverer of the Bathurst Iron Mines at Austin Brook, as well as a farmer in Big River. The headstone of William Hussey can't be located, but he is supposed to be buried here with his father and wife. His obituary was at my grandmother's house. It is faded so I will type it out below. OBITUARY OF WILLIAM HENRY HUSSEY: The death of Mr. William Hussey, famed as the discoverer of the Bathurst Iron Mines from which he secured a tidy fortune, took place at his home, Big River, last Friday after an illness extending over a considerable period. The late Mr. Hussey was born in Big River 84 years ago and for many years was engaged in farming, fishing and lumbering activities. It was while engaged as a lumber cruiser that he found the mountain of iron ore that ? his imagination, and securing the interest and cooperation of Mr. T. M. Burns, the ore was assayed and reported upon as worth developing. Messrs. Burns and Hussey brought their discovery to the attention of the Drummonds, at that time the leading manufacturers in Canada, and later sold their property for a substantial figure. The mining property was located a short distance from the Grand Falls on the Nepisiquit and is now known as Bathurst Mines, where the purchasing company carried on extensive development work some years ago. The late Mr. Hussey was predeceased some years ago by his wife and is survived by one daughter and six sons. The daughter, Miss Kate, resides at home and of the sons, Willard, Adley, Arthur and Ernest all live near Bathurst, while Horace and Alphonse and currently mining in Northern Ontario. He also leaves one brother George Hussey of Big River and two sisters Mrs. Edward Connolly of Bathurst and Mrs. John Costigan of Maine. The funeral on SUnday afternoon was an exceptionally large one, the pallbearers being Gus Lordon, Jos. Hussey, Alden Cole, George Hussey, Herman Good V. C., and John Boyd. Rev. Father Wheten conducted the service at the Sacred Heart Church and interment took place in the new Catholic Cemetery.
