Description	:	Horry Herald Jan 20 1916 W.H. Lewis died Dec. the 8th, 1915, at his home at this place, after an illness of several months, due to kidney trouble. The funeral services were conducted at Poplar Church by the Rev. L. R. Phillips, his pastor, in presence of a large and sorrowing congregation, after which the remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery. He was born Sept. 22nd 1855. Phillips, his pastor, in presence of a large and sorrowing congregation, after which the remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery. He was born Sept. 22nd 1855. He joined the Methodist church at Poplar while in his teens, and at the aged of 19, he professed religion. He lived up to that profession until he was laid to rest, and the Master bid him come up to higher. He had some rare gifts. One special gift was that of prayer, Billie was a good man, no stranger was ever turned from his door. He was married to Miss Elizzie James, while very young. She preceded him to the better world 30 years. There are four children born to that union, three living. His second wife was Miss Lizar Anderson, daughter of Mr. W. H. Anderson. She has nine children. She and seven of her children survive him. O. M. Watts
