He died at his home five miles northwest of Eureka, July 21, 1923, aged 39 yrs., 11 months, and 19 days. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Essie Noel and eight children: Louise, aged 17, Irene 15; Willie, 12; May, 10; Mary, 8; Glenna, 6; Paul, 3; and Willa, 1. He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. Olive Buchanan, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Teegardin, wife of Curt Teegardin. All of these were at his bedside... He also is survived by his mother, Mrs. Olive Buchanan, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Teegardin, wife of Curt Teegardin. All of these were at his bedside at the time of his death. There is also a brother, Frank of Colinga, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Floyd Blackwell of Boise City, Idaho. He united with the Methodist church at Greensburg, Kansas, in 1919, and was a member there at the time of his death. His death was due to heat prostration. He was unconscious several days following the attack. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church Sunday, July 22, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Geo. M. Boicourt. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery.
