Read More	SOURCE: THE MONTICELLO EXPRESS, MONTICELLO, IOWA, APRIL 4, 1935, PAGE 4 CENTER JUNCTION William Henry Preston, son of Henry Clay Preston and Helen Preston, was born April 1, 1865, on a farm a short distance from the present home, and passed away m the University hospital in Iowa City, March 26, 1935, lacking but a week of the full span of 70 years, promised in the Bible for completed life. In 1887 he was married to Miss Ella May Mann, and they came to live in this home which has thus been their residence during their married life. To them were born two sons, Grover Cleveland Preston and Frank P. Preston, and also one daughter, Ghlta Frost, all of Center Junction. These with seven grandchildren remain to mourn the loss of a precious father. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Helen Woodburn of Irvington, New Jersey, and Estella Stingley of Center Junction. One brother, Seymour, preceded him to death. The grandchildren are: Mrs. James Woodworth of Marion, Hazel and Lyle Frost; Leone, Russell, Joyce and Jean Preston, of Center Junction. Mr. Preston was an accommodating and cheerful neighbor and a fine friend. His nature was optimistic and hopeful even to the last. He, with his wife, joined the Methodist church at Center Junction under the ministry of Rev. P. H. Schepple on May 25, 1924. He was reverend and appreciative of the work of the church. He had suffered for over a year, yet with patience and fortitude he looked on the bright side of life even in the face of an apparently incurable disease. Funeral services were held in Center Junction at the home and the M. E. church, Friday, March 30, 1935, with the Rev. S. V. Williams conducting the services. Interment was made in the North Madison cemetery. The pallbearers included Howard Leech, O. O. Watson, Will Mead, R. G. Mead, Lyman Moats and Earl Sherman. Lyle Thompson, Gus Dreibelbis, Vivlenne McDonald and Grace Mead sang. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Russell Preston of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Preston of Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. James Woodworth of Marion; Lloyd Collier of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Preston, Mr. and Mrs. John Stupka and Charles Sheiman of Anamosa; Mr. and Mrs. Serbousek of Monticello; Mrs. Carl Underwood of Anamosa; and Earl Sherman of Monticello.
