Description	:	William Henry, son of John and Ann Elizabeth Smith O'Riley, was born January 1, 1892 in Mercer Township, Adams County, Iowa. He passed away at Rosary Hospital on Thursday, November 12, 1964 about 6 p.m. He spent his entire life farming in Mercer and Nodaway Townships. On December 6, 1916 he was united in marriage to Elma Irene Gillet. To this union seven children were born: Wilma (Mrs. George Cannon) of Newton; Wayne of Wanesville, Missouri; Marjorie (Mrs. Fred Newcombe) of Seward, Kansas; Ruth (Mrs. LeRoy Newcomber) of Logan; Hallene (Mrs. Donald Shires) of Oakland; Harold (Mick) of Lenox. He passed away at Rosary Hospital on Thursday, November 12, 1964 about 6 p.m. He spent his entire life farming in Mercer and Nodaway Townships. On December 6, 1916 he was united in marriage to Elma Irene Gillet. To this union seven children were born: Wilma (Mrs. George Cannon) of Newton; Wayne of Wanesville, Missouri; Marjorie (Mrs. Fred Newcombe) of Seward, Kansas; Ruth (Mrs. LeRoy Newcomber) of Logan; Hallene (Mrs. Donald Shires) of Oakland; Harold (Mick) of Lenox. Besides his loving wife and children, he is survived by five sons-in-law, Leola and Beverly; 22 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; also Gordon Frank, who was like another son to them who lived with them for some time; a brother, James of Corning, a sister, Mayme (Mrs. Joe Brown) of Creston; and a host of nieces and nephews. Early in life he was baptized and joined the Methodist Church, where he had continuous membership being a present member of the Nodaway Methodist Church. He was a school board member while his children were in school, a member of the Pair Board, a Mason and Eastern Star. Mr. O'Riley's love in life was his family and his work on the farm. He believed that the family was important to Christ and his teachings and endeavored to make the family circle a perfect one. All of the grandchildren were able to be present at the funeral services held Saturday, November 14 at 2 p.m. from the Methodist Church in Corning. Officiating were Rev. Brown Garlock, Rev. J. D. Lawrence, and Iroquois Lodge No. 590 A.F. & A.M. Music was by Mrs. Brown Garlock and Mrs. Dick Cook. Pall bearers were Bob Shires, Myron Shires, Billy O'Riley, Roland Newcombe, Harlan O'Riley, and Duane O'Riley. Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Goldsmith and Mr. and Mrs. James Haley. Interment was in the Nodaway Cemetery.
