Crowder III, 70-year-old leading banker of the community. He lived at 312 W. Giles Street. Mr. Crowder was executive vice president of the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Hutsonville, Ill., and was a banker all of his life in this community and for a period of time in Chicago, Ill. His grandfather, William H. Crowder, Sr., was a pioneer banker of the community and his late father, William H. Crowder, Jr., was a cashier of the Sullivan State Bank for several years. Helped Count Pennies Mr. Crowder, as a child, would help count pennies at the bank. He worked for a period of time for the Sullivan State Bank before going to Chicago where he became engaged in the banking business. He later returned to Sullivan and became associated with the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Hutsonville of which he later became executive vice president, a position he held at the time of his death. He was the son of the late William H. and Earlene Moore Crowder. He was born Aug. 17, 1892. Mr. Crowder, a veteran of World War I, was a member of World War One Barracks No. 407 of Sullivan County, American Legion Post No. 742 of Hutsonville, Elks Lodge No. 911 of Sullivan and the Illinois Bankers Association. Immediate Survivors Surviving are four sisters, Miss Doris Crowder of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Deborah Laabs, of Concordia, Mo., Mrs. June Riggs of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins of Sullivan; one brother, Ben Crowder of Sullivan, and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Carrithers Funeral Home where friends may call and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. Homer Page officiating.
