He had been ill for the past five weeks. Born January 19, 1863 at Rushville, Ill., Mr. Jenkins came to Cherokee as a young man and was employed by the Frisco railroad here for a number of years. Mr. Jenkins, who retired 18 years ago, was married to Lona Bea of Cherokee. Mrs. Jenkins died in 1942. Following the death of his wife, Mr. Jenkins lived with his daughter in McCune and then moved with her to New Franklin. Survivors include the daughter; two sons, Elmer L. Jenkins of Kansas City and Frank Jenkins of California; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church with Rev. G.M. Pierce officiating. Burial was in the Cherokee cemetery.
