Read More	SOURCE: MONTICELLO EXPRESS..PAGE 1....FEB 08, 1934 WILLIAM J AITCHISON PASSES William J Aitchison, for a number of years a respected resident of Monticello, died at his home on Third street last Saturday evening at 5:0 o'clock. He had been suffering with heart trouble for many years, and his unexpected death came as the result of this affliction. Throughout the major portion of his life, he followed the vocation of a farmer, with the exception of a number of years spent as a buttermaker in a creamery at Cascade, and also in a branch of the old Diamond creamery, Bowen's Prairie. Mr. Aitchison was a native of Ireland, and was born in the town of Tralea, county Terry, January 31, 1862. He was the son of Robert and Maria Frances Barrett Aitchison. His father died when he was a small boy, and a few months thereafter his mother removed, with her family, to the town of Cascade, where they settled in the month of November, 1868. Mr. Aitchison grew to manhood in Cascade, and was employed in the creamery in that city for nine years. He left in 1900, to work in a branch of the Diamond creamery at Bowen's Prairie. In 1910, he purchased what was known as the old Hicks farm on Bowen's Prairie, and followed farming operations there until his removal to Monticello, February 22, 1921. Since that date he made his home on Third street. Mr. Aitchison was married to Jane Burke at St. Martin's church, Cascade, by the late Rev. L.M. Roche, October 11, 1892. Mrs. Aitchison passed away October 8, 1932. In addition to his wife, Mr. Aitchison was preceded in death by a son, Robert, who passed away in infancy. he is survived by two sons and two daughters, viz: Claire and Henry, who operate the Aitchison farm est of Monticello, Miss Margureite, who has kept house for her parents for a number of years, and Aileen, Mrs. John Miller, of Anamosa. He is also survived by six grandchildren, and a brother and sister. viz: Robert Aitchison and Mrs. Minnie Grogan of Omaha. The following brother and sisters preceded him in death: J.B. Aitchsion of Cascade, Mrs. M.J. Collins of Lohrville, and Mrs. Henry Schaffer of Omaha. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church last Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock. They were in charge of Mr. Aitchison's pastor, Rev. A.L. Lorenz. The pallbearers at the funeral were Matt Muller, Lorenz Allamand, Will Burrichter, George Uller, George Nordmann, and John Appleby. The relatives from out-of-town who attended the funeral were Robert J. Aitchison of Omaha, and Mrs. Ruth Aitchison of Dubuque.
