He attended Saunders Creek Country School near Burr and then graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He helped build grain bins for the government in his early years. He married Janice A. Johnson on April 1, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling and they lived and farmed near Sterling and were the owners of Ehmen Trucking and Harvesting. "Bill" Ehmen, 78, of Sterling, died Nov. 5, 2014. He was born on April 5, 1936 at rural Sterling. He attended Saunders Creek Country School near Burr and then graduated from Sterling High School in 1954. He helped build grain bins for the government in his early years. He married Janice A. Johnson on April 1, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling and they lived and farmed near Sterling and were the owners of Ehmen Trucking and Harvesting. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling. Survivors include daughters, Linda Hronek and husband, Gary, of Sterling and Betty Case and husband, Russell, of Douglas; sons, Eddie Ehmen and wife, Colleen, of Sterling and Roger Ehmen and wife, Laureen, of Adams; eight grandchildren; brother, Merlin and wife, Colleen, of Fairmont; sisters, Frieda Rathe of Tecumseh, Welma Voelk of Shawnee, Kan., Joan Hesterman of Lincoln; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church of Sterling. A family prayer service will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established to the family's choice. Viewing from 4 p.m. Thursday until 8 p.m. Friday at Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling and one hour preceding the services at the church.
