Description	:	OTTUMWA - William "Bill" J. Grear, 78, of Hidden Valley Trailer Court, died Jan. 22, 2005 at his son Billy's home, 4315 N.E. 32nd St. in Des Moines. He was born June 1, 1926 in Ottumwa to William and Alice Walker Grear. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he lived 20 years in Coal Valley, Ill. working for Winters Roofing until retirement. He was born June 1, 1926 in Ottumwa to William and Alice Walker Grear. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he lived 20 years in Coal Valley, Ill. working for Winters Roofing until retirement. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are three sons, Jerry Kobrock, Roger Grear and Billy Grear all of Des Moines, daughter Roxy McCauley of Des Moines, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a sister, Marguerite Roe of Ottumwa. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Jeannie Lewis, Betty Landtiser, Darlene Poncy, Irene Stewart and Mary Welch; and three brothers, Fred, Snap and Virgil Grear. Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home, Rev. Kevin Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schaefer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 of the American Legion. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with family present 5-7 p.m. A memorial has been established to the family.
