William was a longtime member of Eden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Burns. He was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was known as "Grandpa Bill" to all in the Burns community.After his retirement, he worked at the tire shop in Burns. He also sharpened saws, scissors and other blades for friends... Koehn Sr., 97, died on Friday (March 18, 2011) at Moundridge Manor in Moundridge.He was born on Feb. 7, 1914, in Houston to Jonas W. and Lena (Schmidt) Koehn.On Sept. 28, 1935, he married Leona Dirks, and she preceded him in death. William was a longtime member of Eden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in Burns. He was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was known as "Grandpa Bill" to all in the Burns community.After his retirement, he worked at the tire shop in Burns. He also sharpened saws, scissors and other blades for friends and family. William's family was important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with his loving family and many friends. He is survived by three sons, Earl (Gene) and Louise Koehn, and William Koehn Jr. and Donna, both of Burns, and David Koehn and Lavada of Fairview, Okla.; one daughter, Verna Becker and Galen of Burns; and a daughter-in-law, Bertha Koehn of Burns. He also has one sister, Susie Koehn of Moundridge; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.William was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Marvin Koehn; one daughter, Lucille Koehn; three brothers; and three sisters. He also was preceded in death by two granddaughters and one great-grandson.Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eden Church of God in Christ, Mennonite in rural Burns.Memorials may be left with Moundridge Manor, in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
