Description	:	William James Plummer was born September 8, 1955 in Genoa, Nebraska. He was the only child of Dale Benton Plummer and Dorothy Kearney Plummer. Read More	William James Plummer was born September 8, 1955 in Genoa, Nebraska. He was the only child of Dale Benton Plummer and Dorothy Kearney Plummer. Bill briefly lived Washington State when his father was serving in the Army and stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, Bill then lived in Schuyler, Nebraska until he was 12. He moved to Genoa, where he graduated from Genoa High School (now Twin Rivers High School) in 1974. He enlisted in the *United States Army* , and served as a member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment as a scout, patrolling the border that existed between what was then West Germany and the Eastern Bloc. He later was chosen to be trained as a drug and alcohol counselor. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked as a security officer for The Industrial Security Police in Columbus. He worked his way up to assistant manager, and attended classes at Platte College until he moved to Lincoln in order to attend The University of Nebraska. Bill graduated UNL with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a teaching Certificate in Social Studies. He later studied history and special education at UNL Graduate School. While attending UNL, Bill was elected President of the UNL Young Democrats, and later Vice President of the Nebraska Young Democrats. In the 1990's Bill became a conservative Republican. Bill worked as a social worker for The Lincoln Action Program, The Gathering Place, and Catholic Social Services. He also worked as a political consultant on a number of campaigns, and taught courses in personal protection and handguns. He was an NRA Certified handgun instructor, and he owned Antiques and Consignment, an antique store, and wrote articles for Buy Lincoln and Shop Nebraska magazines. Bill was currently working at Williamsburg HyVee. He served as the President of the Lincoln Neighborhood Watch Association, was a board member of the Lincoln Salvation Army, and the UNL Police Advisory Board. Bill was married to Linda Schmidt from 1984-2010, and had one child, Brendan Plummer. He was a member of The Cathedral of the Risen Christ. Bill loved animals, researching family genealogy, reading, history, classic movies, travel and teaching his son history and government. Bill was a member of The American Legion, The Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Bill is survived by his only son, Brendan. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Cathedral of the Risen Christ, Lincoln. Burial at Valley View Cemetery in Genoa, Nebraska.
