The body was brought here for the funeral and burial with Roper and Son of Lincoln in charge. Rev. Jestine R. Jensen, Methodist minister, gave the message. Miss Barbara Zook, soloist, sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Abide with Me." Organist was Mrs. B. N. Luttich. Pallbearers were J. B. Burt, Harry Burt, William Burt, Lennie and Blaine Frankforter and C. W. Gewacke, all relatives of the departed. The immediate family was here for the last rites as well as a number of relatives and friends from distant and adjacent towns, friends who knew the departed well and who valued Mr. Burst as a friend. The large number of floral offerings, contributed bespoke of everyone's esteem. Lunch was served to relatives and friends after the funeral at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gewacke. William James Burt was born at Geneva, August 12, 1879, the second son of James W. and Emma McClintock Burt. He died June 16, 1954, at the age of 74, at the home of his son in Bennett. Mr. Burt grew to manhood at Geneva. There he married Kate Spangler and they lived on farms in the Ohiowa and Tobias vicinities. They made many friends and took an active part in community life. After his wife's death in 1933, Mr. Burt moved to Indiana. There he worked in defense plants, later retiring to a small acreage near Lincoln city. His health has been failing for more than two years, and in March when his condition became worse, he was brought to his son's home in Bennett. Since his return to Nebraska, he has enjoyed seeing again many of his relatives and friends who live here. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Burt of Brookville, Ind., two daughters, Mrs. L. A. Frankforter of Friend and Fairy of Hastings, a son Harry of Bennett; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles N. and Henry W. of Ohiowa, and Jay B. of Lincoln. One sister, Mrs. Minnie Baker preceded him in death.
