JACKSON: William James Jackson, who moved to Orangeville from Fergus late last summer, passed away at his home on Elizabeth St. on Wednesday, April 16th, after a comparatively short illness from ulceration of the stomach. Deceased, who was 49 years of age, was born and raised in the township of Mono, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Jackson, residents of the Camilla neighborhood. After his marriage to Susan Middleton in 1900 he moved to Melancthon township, where he farmed for some years. He gave up farming and moved to Fergus, where the family resided for 15 years, before coming to Orangeville. Deceased was working with the C.P.R. when overtaken by his last illness. Mr. Jackson was a quiet, industrious man, who was held in general esteem as a neighbor and citizen. While in Fergus he was in the employ of Beatty Bros. and was well thought of by his employers and friends in that town. He was connected with the Methodist Church. Deceased is survived by his widow and a family of three sons, Lloyd, Harold and Henry, and three daughters, Vera, Violet and Edith, all living at home. T. R. Jackson of Woodstock is the only brother and Mrs. Wm. Alexander of Laurel and Mrs. Robt. Thompson of London are the sisters. Mrs. Chas. Cooke, Shelburne, is a half-sister and Albert French, living in Delaware State, a half brother. The funeral was held from his late residence to Forest Lawn Cemetery on Friday afternoon, Rev. H. L. Partridge conducting services at the house and grave. The pall-bearers were Messrs. W. T. Johnston, Walter Christian, E. H. Sproule, Wm. Alexander, Samuel Black and Thos. Middleton. The floral tributes include a "Gates Ajar" from the employees of the Dods Knitting Co.; spray, W. E. Leeson and family; wreath, A. Bradley and F. Hogben; spray, Mr. and Mrs. R. Leeson; spray, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Bradley; spray, Form 2, Public School; pillow, the family, and a wreath from the brother and sisters. Friends here from outside points for the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. H. Morby, Glencairn; Mr. and Mrs. E. and Wilfred Morby, Glencairn; Fred Green, Corbetton; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McCauley and Earl Hudd, Dundalk; Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Stephenson, Shelburne, and Mrs. Thos. R. Jackson, Woodstock. -Orangeville Banner.
