LEWIS DOSTAL BURIED THIS MORNING Fright from the shock and bum s received caused the death of the three months’ old baby of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dostal, Tuesday morning, living four miles north of the county home, when the cab in which the baby lay caught fire Monday morning. The baby died twenty-four hours later. The real cause of the accident is not known, as Mrs. Dostal was in the barn when she saw smoke coming from the room. She rushed to the house and found the room full of smoke and some fire, carried the children out of the house, then phoned to a physician and neighbors before making any attempt to extinguish the flames. Before any help reached her Mrs. Dostal had put the fire out. Her courage and presence of mind saved both children from being burned to death, as well as saving the house from destruction. The two children were left in the room alone, and it is not known just how the room caught fire, but Mrs. Dostal believes that coals popped out of the stove into the kindling box setting fire to it, and the cab was caught when the older child tried to get it away from the burning box. The baby died twenty-four hours after the accident, going into convulsions just before dying, which led the physician to believe that the shock was more the cause of death than the burns. Funeral services were held this forenoon at 10 o’clock at St. Vaclav church, conducted by Rev. Father Vopatek, of Clutier, and burial was made in the cemetery near there.
