Description	:	William Namanny was born on January 5, 1899 near Schleswig, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tina Namanny. He died on Wednesday evening, March 29, 1978, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Denison, Iowa at the age of 79. William was raised on a farm near Schleswig and attended the rural schools of the area. Read More	William Namanny was born on January 5, 1899 near Schleswig, Iowa, the son of Henry and Tina Namanny. He died on Wednesday evening, March 29, 1978, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Denison, Iowa at the age of 79. William was raised on a farm near Schleswig and attended the rural schools of the area. He was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith. On February 9, 1920, he was united in marriage to Lena Plagge at Charter Oak, Iowa. Together they made their first home on a farm west of Schleswig. Later they purchased the Namanny home place, where they continued to live and work for forty years. In 1965, they retired and moved to Schleswig. Lena passed away in 1967 and William continued to make his home in Schleswig later moving to Denison when he became a resident of Eventide. In addition to his parents and his wife, William was preceded in death by one son Kenneth, two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and three brothers, John, Julius and Lawrence. Survivors include children Leonard of Denison, Wilbert of Kiron, Marcella, Mrs. Melvin Petersen of Schleswig, Donna Mae, Mrs. Donavon Weed of Sioux City, William Jr. of Canton, Ohio, Shirley, Mrs. William Ahart of Denison and LaDene, Mrs. Rene Hickey of Dakota City, Nebraska. Also by 32 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one brother Vernon of California and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Vogt of Ricketts, Mrs. Hertha Creese of Charter Oak, Mrs. Lillian Schneider of Arizona and Mrs. Marie Pierce of California. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 1, 1978, at 1:00 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schleswig, Iowa. Burial was in Crawford Heights, Denison, Iowa. The Rev. Theodore Letzring officiated at the services. Pallbearers included grandsons Larry Namanny, Keith Petersen, Scott Namanny, James Namanny, Rodney Weed and Michael Ahart.
