Description	:	William "Lawrence" Winstead, 85, of Henderson, NC died Friday, July 2, 2021, at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, NC. Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Percy Edward Winstead and Mary Jackson Winstead. Lawrence was a banker in the community for many years and a faithful member of West End Baptist Church. He was very active in his community and was also a member of the Henderson Optimist Club, Henderson Vance Chamber, United Way, American Heart Association and Henderson Downtown Redevelopment. Funeral services will be held Tuesday,... Read More	William "Lawrence" Winstead, 85, of Henderson, NC died Friday, July 2, 2021, at the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia, NC. Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Percy Edward Winstead and Mary Jackson Winstead. Lawrence was a banker in the community for many years and a faithful member of West End Baptist Church. He was very active in his community and was also a member of the Henderson Optimist Club, Henderson Vance Chamber, United Way, American Heart Association and Henderson Downtown Redevelopment. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at West End Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ralph McGowan. Burial will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Christine Fuller Winstead; one daughter, Susan W. Greenway; one son, Gary L. Winstead (Susan); two stepdaughters, Susan Mitchell (Tim) and Kathy Strouth (Billy); one stepson, Chris Foster (Michelle); one sister, Brenda Ray; two brothers, Joe Winstead and Adrian Winstead; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Lou Woodard and Ellen Paynter; and one brother, George Winstead. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. in the West End Baptist Church fellowship hall. Serving as active pall bearers will be Will Winstead, Koty Parrish, Chase Parrish, Greyson Parrish, Brian Parrish and Tim Mitchell. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be the Pulliam-Cothran Men's Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to West End Baptist Church, 619 Dabney Dr., Henderson, NC 27536. Arrangements are by Sossamon Funeral Home.
