LEACH FUNERAL YESTERDAY AFTERNOON The funeral of William Leach, well known pioneer citizen of Scotland county, who died at his home in northwest Memphis, Saturday morning May 25, at 11:30, was held at his late home yesterday afternoon at two o'clock. The funeral was conducted by Rev. C.H. Morton, of Cape Giradeau, MO, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian church in Memphis. It was the desire of Mr. Leach that Rev. Morton conduct his funeral service. Rev. Morton was assisted by Rev. Harry V. McCulloch, the new pastor of the Presbyterian church here. The funeral was largely attended as Mr. Leach was on of the old and highly respected citizens of the county, and there was a large floral offering. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, northwest of Memphis, where Mr. Leach was a member of that church for many years. Mr. Leach was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, June 10, 1845, and was almost 85 years of age. He came to Scotland county in 1871 and has since been a resident of the county. He lived on a farm northwest of Memphis for many years, and thirty-one years ago bought property here and moved to Memphis, where he has since resided. Mr. and Mrs. Leach were married December 6, 1874, in this county. In addition to the widow, he leaves two sons, Ross A. Leach and Arthur B. Leach, both of whom live in the Hitt neighborhood, Scotland county. He also leaves one half-brother, Mart Leach, who lives in California and one sister, Mrs. Frank Fulk of Haviland, KS. In addition to the children, Mr. Leach leaves four grand children, Mrs. Minnie McWilliam, Mrs. Hazel Baker, and Vern L. Leach, all of Memphis, and Mrs. Beulah Tucker of Pulaski, Iowa, also two great grandchildren, Leo and Marie McWilliam of Memphis. Mrs. Leach, before her marriage was Miss Susan Elizabeth Shelly. Mr. Leach was a devoted husband, loving father, and a faithful friend.
