Description	:	William Leonard Cochren, son of William T. and Julia Cochren, was born October 16, 1877 in Central City, Lynn County, Iowa, and departed this life at his home in Hoyt, Kansas, April 30, 1941, aged 63 years, 7 months, and 15 days. When a small child he came with his family by cover wagon to Kansas, locating at Netawaka. At the age of 9 years his family moved to Hiawatha. Read More	William Leonard Cochren, son of William T. and Julia Cochren, was born October 16, 1877 in Central City, Lynn County, Iowa, and departed this life at his home in Hoyt, Kansas, April 30, 1941, aged 63 years, 7 months, and 15 days. When a small child he came with his family by cover wagon to Kansas, locating at Netawaka. At the age of 9 years his family moved to Hiawatha. They remained there but a short time, returning to Netawaka and located permanently on their farm north of town. On July 1, 1897, he was united in marriage to Cora Cooper. To this union two daughters were born; Ruby Ione, who preceded him in death January, 7, 1920, and Lena Maye Christensen. During the early part of their married life they moved to a farm in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood and remained there for twenty years. He was converted and joined the United Brethren Church, and was a member for nearly twenty years. In 1926 they moved to their farm east of Hoyt and he and his family , transferred their church membership to the Methodist Church at Hoyt. He was a devoted husband and father. His kind and honest dealings with his fellowmen endeared him to all who knew him. His illness has been of long duration but he bore it bravely and uncomplainingly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Netawaka for 37 years. He leased to morn his passing, his wife, daughter and son-in-law, Lena Maye and Leslie H. Christensen of Rochester, Tex.; three brothers, Claude of Chicago, Ill., Ernest of Circleville, and Walter of Whiting; six nieces and four nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Hoyt Methodist Church Friday afternoon with Rev. Sutton in charge. The Dynamo Quartet from Holton sang two numbers.
