MORTON William Leonard Morton, son of James and Martha Morton, was born in Marion county, Iowa, Oct. 5, 1873 and departed this life on May 10, 1953 at his home in Lucas county, at the age of 79 years, seven months and five days. He was united in marriage to Rosa Wells of Bethany, Mo., Jan. 1, 1893. To this union were born four sons, Manley, Herbert, Fred and Ellis. He lived on his farm in Pleasant township for many years. Surviving him are his wife, Rosa, sons, Herbert of Taney county, Mo.; Fred of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and Ellis of Chariton. Manley preceded him in death on June 20, 1951. He is also survived by five brothers, Charlie, Clarence, Lawrence, Harley and Otto, one sister, Alice, 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Everett Hollingshead were held from the Miley funeral home Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Zion cemetery. Pallbearers were the grandsons, Joseph Morton, James Morton, Leonard Morton, Orley Morton, Lee Morton and Loren Morton. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
