Description	:	William Lester Hostetler was born Feb. 2, 1921 in the rural Harper home of his parents, Ura H. and Della (Balmer) Hostetler. He attended rural elementary schools in Harper County and graduated from Harper High School in the class of 1940.At the time Lester began his farming career, which was interrupted in 1942, when he left to spend 4 years in Civilian Public Service in the Black Forrest region of Colorado. Read More	William Lester Hostetler was born Feb. 2, 1921 in the rural Harper home of his parents, Ura H. and Della (Balmer) Hostetler. He attended rural elementary schools in Harper County and graduated from Harper High School in the class of 1940.At the time Lester began his farming career, which was interrupted in 1942, when he left to spend 4 years in Civilian Public Service in the Black Forrest region of Colorado. Several years later he traded farming got the Harper Redi-Mix, which he operated until his retirement. On Aug. 2, 1946, he married Elsie Marie Baker in the home of her parents at Protection, KS. Their home was blessed with three daughters. On July 14, 1974, cancer claimed the life of Elsie. He married LaWanda McClaflin Watson on Aug. 18, 1974. In his youth, Lester untied with Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church which he faithfully attended and supported. He was a member of the Harper Lions Club for many years. On Aug. 15, 2001 Lester went to his Heavenly Home. Lester will be missed by his wife, LaWanda; daughters, Diana and her husband, Ron Peden, Bonita and her husband, Michael Starry and Sherlyn and her husband Wayne Neff; 4 step-children, 3 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Albert, Dewey and Delmar Hostetler; 2 sisters, Thelma Kauffman and Rosalea Hostetler; one aunt and many cousins.
