Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Margaret Thompson Smith and son of the late Lloyd Smith and Eula Clary Smith. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Margaret Thompson Smith and son of the late Lloyd Smith and Eula Clary Smith. Surviving are a son, William (Bill) Lloyd Smith, II and wife, Debbie, of Columbia; two daughters, Lynn Smith Clary and Marki Smith Clarke, both of Gaffney; a sister, Judy Webb of Gaffney; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Moss of Gaffney; a brother-in-law, Olan Thompson of Columbia; caregiver and special family friend, Jane Crawford of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Suzy Clary George and husband, David, Mandy Clary Hoyle and husband, Justin, Ansley Aughtry Smith and William (Will) Lloyd Smith, III; two step-grandchildren, Sarah Jones and Legare Jones; five great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Tina Smith, Betty Jean Kennedy and Margie Stacy. The family would like to extend special thanks to Peachtree Centre and Dr. Alfred Ezman. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clyde Thomas and Rev. Stan Schenkel officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of Lynn Clary, 162 Ruth Drive, Gaffney.
