William L. Sunderman, 80, Noble township retired farmer, died at 9:15 this morning at his home five miles east of Griswold. He had been in failing heath for some time. The son of Fred and Lydia Rudig Sunderman, he was born in Noble township Nov. 30, 1886 and grew to manhood in that vicinity. He was married to Viola Mueller at the home of her parents March 3, 1909. Mr Sunderman was a lifelong resident of Noble townwhip and a member of St, John's United Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, two sons, Floyd and Orval Sunderman of Griswold; two brothers, Fred R. Sunderman of Atlantic and Wilbur Sunderman of Griswold; two sisters, Mrs. Fred L. Wohlenhaus and Mrs. Frank Wohlenhaus, both of Atlantic; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Lynn Sunderman; a brother, Sam Sunderman and a sister, Mable Sunderman, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon at St John's United Church of Christ south of Lyman, the Rev. Norman E. Meyer officiating. The casket will be taken from the Roland funeral home to the church Sunday noon and will not be opened after the service. Burial will be in Weirich cemetery. Article from a local newspaper. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We the grandkids of Grandpa Bill will always remember the white handkerchief and long underwear he wore nearly all year. He spent a lot of time at the gas station and always had pop and candy for the grandkids. He loved children and liked to tease them a bit. We had many holiday meals at the house behind the station. Sharon Sunderman wrote in the Muller History: Using two words to describe my grandparents would be, "really great!!!". Their love for the whole family will never be forgotten.
