On Jun 9, 1946, he married Mary Margaret Thomas, who preceded him in death. Surviving are two daughters: Linda Welker, Lima, and Debbie (Rodney) Hopkins, Uniopolis; three grandchildren: Tonia Cotrell, Christina (Jason) Stombaugh and Jason (Ciara) Hopkins; three great-grandsons: Cory Cotrell, Austin Cotrell and Hunter Stombaugh; and a step great-grandson, Cole Stombaugh. He had been a Standard Oil distributor and retired from Ohio Department of Transportation. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II C Battery, 11th Field Artillery, 24th Division having served in New Guinea and the South Pacific as a 50 caliber machine gunner and a 155 caliber Howitzer gunner. He was a member of Spencerville American Legion, Post 191 and the V.F.W. Post 8445, Wapak and a former member of Rousculp Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, boating, gambling, traveling, swimming and being with family. Funeral service will be at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with Pastor David Moore officiating.
