Description	:	After having been ill for three weeks, during the most of which he suffered intense pain, William M. Couch died at his home southeast of Windfall, Sunday morning. His death was due to an ulcer. During the three weeks of agony, through which Mr. Couch passed there came no murmur from his lips, and he faced the approaching dissolution with great calm. He assured all that he was prepared to meet the call that he knew was impending, and he made such business suggestions and arranged for burial, discussing the plans with wonderful calmness and resignation.... His death was due to an ulcer. During the three weeks of agony, through which Mr. Couch passed there came no murmur from his lips, and he faced the approaching dissolution with great calm. He assured all that he was prepared to meet the call that he knew was impending, and he made such business suggestions and arranged for burial, discussing the plans with wonderful calmness and resignation. Shen he was 17, Mr. Couch was converted and allied himself with the Methodist church, but in 1885, he united with the Friends church at Hazel Dell and since that time his affiliations have been with that church, in which his wife is a minister. June 10, 1883, Mr. Couch was married to Mary V. daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Mott) White. No children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Couch, but their home has not been without the little ones, as they have given haven to several. Mr. Couch was born Nov. 8, 1855, in Wayne county, his parents being Franklin and Julia (Lamb) Couch, natives of North Carolina. They left their native state in 1848, going to Wayne county, where they lived until 1860 when they invaded the wilderness in the community three miles south east of Windfall. Marcus Couch, youngest son, now owns the parental homestead. The surviving children of those pioneers are the son above mentioned. Ella Weaver, wife of Albert Weaver, and a twin sister of William, deceased, she living in the Hazel Dell community; and R.D. Couch, of Indianapolis.
