Read More	William was the son of Joseph Langford and Rebecca J. (Wakefield) Gatliff. ******** A PIONEER PASSED ON. William Gatliff Dead. Sunday evening, February 10th the curtain was drawn for the life of our townsman William Gatliff one of pioneers of this valley. Although his death was not unexpected yet its announcement caused a hush to come upon the people as death usually does. Mr. Gatliff had been in rather poor health for several years yet he was always cheerful and jovial. Because of this trait and his integrity as a man he had a host of friends who will indeed miss him. William Gatliff was born in Wayne County, Iowa, September 7th, 1858, where he grew to manhood. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Sarah Stone and in the same year they came to Nebraska where they have since resided. To this union there were born seven children, Mrs. Frank Garrison, Mrs. Leroy Sevier, Mrs. Ray Leach , Charles Vernon Gatliff of this place and Mrs. Forest Sargent of Craig, Colorado, and Otto Lester who departed this life June 16, 1895. Besides his children he leaves to mourn his death , his wife and eighteen grandchildren. Also two brothers and one sister, Charles Gatliff of Henry, Nebraska , George Gatliff of New Mexico and Mrs. Delphi Duncan of Morrill, Nebraska . He is a nephew of Mr. Addison Gatliff of Sargent. For the last few years Mr. Gatliff's health has been failing but his final sickness begun about; four weeks ago which caused his death February 10, 1918 aged 59 yours, 5 months and 3 days. week .The funeral was conducted Wednesday at two o'clock P. M. at the Christian Church by J. S. Reel the pastor. The members of the Modern Woodmen of which Mr. Gatliff was a member attended the funeral in a body. Interment was made in the Sargent, Cemetery.
