Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Margaret Bennett Taylor; two daughters, Ann T. Bailey (Hugh) of Liberty, Jane T. Garrett. He was predeceased by an infant son; a grandson, Vance Marion Bailey; & four sisters, Doris T. Henderson, Elizabeth T. Smarr, Martha T. Stackhouse, and Mary T. Wilson, and one brother, Harry Ray Taylor. Born in Union County on August 23, 1914, he was a son of the late Albert Jefferson and Bessie Humphries Taylor. An entrepreneur at the age of sixteen, he opened a general store to help support his family during the Great Depression. He served his country in the US Army 1942-1946. He owned and operated the Western Auto in Liberty, SC, for over 20 years before his retirement in 1976. A member of First Baptist Church, Liberty for over 60 years, he served on various committees and was a member of the T. E. L. Sunday School class. He was a member of the American Legion Post #67, where he previously served as president. He enjoyed serving others as a driver for over 20 years for Pickens County Meals on Wheels, where he previously served on the Board of Directors. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Clemson Downs in Clemson and the staff at The Willows of Easley. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 400 Edgemont Avenue, Liberty, SC 29657. Funeral services to honor Mr. Taylor life were Thursday, February 19, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Liberty.
