Description	:	William McWilson was born March 10, 1853 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and departed this life at his home in Rice, Kansas, October 12, 1919 at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 2 days. Read More	William McWilson was born March 10, 1853 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and departed this life at his home in Rice, Kansas, October 12, 1919 at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 2 days. Most of his life was spent in Kansas. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Cora B. Tyrl, April 28, 1895. To his union three children were born. He lived in Sumner County, Kansas, until 1903 when he came to Cloud County, where he lived until his death. He was always a conscientious Christian worker, and will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and friends who have known him and enjoyed the benefits of his work. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Cora; three sons, Cleo, Chester and Marmion, all of Rice; two step-sons, Clarence Tyrl of Rice and Arthur Tyrl of Frankfort, Kansas; and two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Downey of Canton, Kansas, and Mrs. Annie Wright of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Three brothers and a sister having gone before. Internment was made in the Rice Cemetery. Note from contributor William Wilson: William McWilson’s Father was William Taylor, the 2nd husband of his Mother, Mary McEldowney Wilson. John, Alexander, Jennie, Ann, and Robert Wilson were his half siblings. William changed his name from William Taylor to William McWilson because his Father abandoned the family when he was 4 in 1857 after his Mother’s death. He chose the Mc for his Mother and the Wilson for his half siblings—who really raised him. I have never been able to locate William Taylor, but I have Mary McEldowney Wilson Taylor’s obituary.
