FITCHETT, Our hearts are made sad by the death of Wm. M. Fitchett who died August 11, 1907. Our loved one is no longer a resident of earth. His spirit has gone to God who gave it. He had been in declining health for many months, being confined to his bed for eight weeks. The sad end came Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, at his residence. He was sixty-seven years and four months old. From his boyhood he was the soul of honor and of truthfulness. Though quiet and earnest in disposition, he possessed the power to bring things to pass; in all of his words and deeds he was honest courageous and pure. Intensely practical, he went about every task which he undertook with the most methodical care, and his work of every kind was characterized by the utmost accuracy. As a husband and father, he was devoted to the welfare of his loved ones, and loved them with the tenderest affection. His friendship and hospitality knew no bounds and it was his delight to do a kind act to all that needy and deserving. Mr. Fitchett was a member of Locust Grove Church. He is survived by a widow, Mrs. Lucy E. Fitchett, one son, B. Leon Fitchett, eight daughters, Mrs. J. W. D. Haynes, Mrs. A. Gray, Mrs. T. C. Thompson, Misses Lucy O., Mollie Belle, Blanche, Carrie Lillian and Esther Monroe Fitchett. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at home and conducted by his pastor, Rev. Duke, his text being, "If a man die, shall he live again".
