Description	:	William N. Van Scoder, 87, of Perrysville died late Saturday night, March 24, 2012, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, following an extended illness. Mr. Van Scoder was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Hanover Township, Ashland County, and was the son of Walter and Lena (née Barnes) Van Scoder. He was a 1943 graduate of Loudonville High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Read More	William N. Van Scoder, 87, of Perrysville died late Saturday night, March 24, 2012, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center, Loudonville, following an extended illness. Mr. Van Scoder was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Hanover Township, Ashland County, and was the son of Walter and Lena (née Barnes) Van Scoder. He was a 1943 graduate of Loudonville High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had lived in the Mansfield area for many years before returning to southern Ashland County a few years ago. He was employed with Ohio Penal Industries as an instructor before his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 257, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8586, and 40 et 8. He attended United Methodist Church of Loudonville. He loved trees and nature as evidenced by his enjoyment of woodworking and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Harvey) Van Scoder, whom he married Oct. 12, 1951; one son, Gregory (Jackie) Van Scoder of Wooster; two daughters, Patricia Stewart of Mansfield and Paula Nelson of Hilton Head, S.C.; along with seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Richard Van Scoder. Funeral services will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with the Rev. Bob Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Loudonville Cemetery with military services at the graveside conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
