For a number of weeks he made a brave fight to live, and it was hoped that he might be spared a while longer, but he did not have sufficient endurance to win out. Mr. Faubion was a comparatively young man, just in the prime of life and had much to live for, with a home, a loving wife and daughter, a host of friends, and good business prospects and it seemed that he should have had many more years here. But life is uncertain and the summons may come at any time.William Nathaniel Faubion was born at Council Grove, Kan., August 27, 1878, and departed this life at his home in Green, Kan., Friday, December 25, 1925, aged 47 years, 3 months and 28 days.Mr. Faubion came to Riley county, Kansas, in the year of 1895, with his parents, when his father, Rev. Nathaniel Faubion, was assigned to what was then known as the May Day circuit of the United Brethren church. As Mr. Faubion grew to young manhood he started in life for himself by going first to Oklahoma and from there to Washington state, where he homesteaded a piece of government land and resided on the same for five years, receiving his patent from the government. Then, returning to Kansas, he was united in holy wedlock to Miss Alta Houser on February 5, 1908. To this union were born two children - William [sic] Leroy, who lived but a few days, and Wilma, who is left with her mother to mourn his going. Besides his wife and daughter, he leaves to mourn his departure, his mother in Washington state, three brothers, three sisters and a host of friends.Mr. Faubion was converted in the year of 1909 and united with the United Brethren Church, in which church at Green he held his membership at the time of his death. He lived a consistent Christian life until his crowning. During his last illness he was very patient, bearing his suffering with much grace and fortitude. As the time of his departure grew nearer his faith in the God he served grew stronger.Mr. Faubion will be missed in the business and religious life of his community and from the fellowship of his many friends.Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at the United Brethren church, by Rev. W. H. Hill, former pastor, assisted by the present pastor, Rev. D. V. Herrick. Music was furnished by a ladies quartet consisting of Mrs. Irene Cree, Mrs. Maude Harbour, Miss Vera Shadle and Miss Isla Dugan. The large number of floral offerings and the immense crowd bore silent testimony to the high esteem in which Mr. Faubion was held. Services at the grave were conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge, of which Mr. Faubion was a member.
