Mr. Neu, a retired farmer, had lived in Templeton and vicinity 68 years. He was born August 1, 1864, at Neun Kirchen, Germany, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Neu. Coming to the United States when he was only two years old, the family settled at Troy Grove, Ill. He had lived in Carroll county since 1880. Mr. Neu was married to Josephine Roth February 18, 1890, at Holy Angels, church, Roselle. They farmed in this vicinity until their retirement in 1924. Mrs. Neu died May 13, 1942. SURVIVING are three children: Mrs. Mary Behrens, Templeton, who lived with her father; Peter Neu, Carroll, Route _; and Mrs. John Taphorn (Helen), Odebolt. There are 18 grandchildren, one of whom, the Rev. Fr. Behrens of Fort Dodge, made his home with Mr. Neu since childhood. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Kate Frank of Carroll, and sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Mosman, Gainesville, Tex. Mr. Neu belonged to a family of five children. HE WAS a member of Sacred Heart church, Templeton. He also belonged to the Daily Times Herald Three-Quarter Century club. Mr. Neu who had been in declining health several months, entered the Carroll hospital Wednesday, February 25.
