Read More	The Anthon Herald, 7 November 1934, page 1: Death came at 2:50 Friday, November 2, 1934, to relieve the suffering of William O'Connell who passed away at the home of his brother, J.J. O'Connell in Grant Township at the age of 59 years, 6 months and 26 days. Mr. O'Connell was forced to discontinue farming two years ago because of ill health. Since then his condition gradually became worse and the past several months he has been cared for by his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.J. O'Connell and nephew, William F. O'Connell. They gave him the finest attention, administering to his every want with loving devotion. The deceased was born April 6, 1875, in Garry Owen, Jackson Co., Iowa, the son of Michael and Mary O'Connell. He grew to young manhood in Jackson County and in the fall of 1893 went to Danbury where he farmed with his brother John for two years. Then he came to Anthon and the remaining years of his life were spent in this community. Survivors include a brother, J.J., a sister, Mrs. Dennis Collins of Cedar Rapids, a half-sister, Mrs. Margaret Kenaley of Anthon, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Catherine O'Connell of Anthon, four nephew, William F. O'Connell, Edward O'Connell, and James Kenaley of Anthon, and Dennis Collins, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, six nieces, Mrs. Frank Tallman of Cascade, Iowa, Mrs. Ed Bray, Jr. of Chicago, Marguerite, Regina, Rosaline and Catherine Collins of Cedar Rapids, in addition to a legion of friends. Funeral services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. D.K. Hurley officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Chausse, Earl Cole, Hugh Coyne, Raphael Curtin, N.H. Nielsen and Frank Carr. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Service.
