Description	:	William Oscar Lee was born in Des Moines on 19 DEC 1974, the third child of Robert L Lee and his wife Hellen (Looker) Lee, the first of their children to be born in Iowa. He accompanied his family when they moved to Salt Lick, Kentucky, and there he met Aletha Daniel. The two were married at the home of her parents in Salt Lick on 24 OCT 1897. Read More	William Oscar Lee was born in Des Moines on 19 DEC 1974, the third child of Robert L Lee and his wife Hellen (Looker) Lee, the first of their children to be born in Iowa. He accompanied his family when they moved to Salt Lick, Kentucky, and there he met Aletha Daniel. The two were married at the home of her parents in Salt Lick on 24 OCT 1897. By early 1900 they had moved with their infant son to Sioux City, where they shared a home with Aletha's parents. In time William found employment as a sales agent for a meat packing business. In 1915 they moved to Plymouth, and William began working as a butcher for the nearby town of Merrill. They stayed in the area until 1936, when they moved to Ames, and a job as butcher at Fort Dodge, with the US Market Food Service. William died 26 OCT 1944 of a heart attack. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. Murray Allen of the Congregational Church, and and he was laid to rest in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
