Read More	Moscow-Pullman Daily News: William 'Bill' Otis Lynd, 91, of Palouse, Wash., died Monday, June 16, at the Good Samaritan Village in Moscow from causes related to age. He was born March 14, 1917, in Roundup, Mont., to Ruben and Mary (West) Lynd. He came with this family to the West Cove area in Idaho, attended the West Cove Country School and graduated from Palouse High School in 1935. Bill worked for area farmers after his schooling. He married Phyllis Day on Dec. 18, 1941, and the couple later divorced. He entered the United States Army Air Corps on Feb. 14, 1942, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during World War II. He was discharged as a Sergeant on Nov. 11, 1945. He moved to Spokane after the war and was employed as a substitute mail carrier for a year. He then worked for Armour Meat Packing Company in Spokane for a year. He then worked for International Harvester, also in Spokane, for 24 years as a warehouseman from 1946 to 1971. Bill moved to Palouse in 1971 where he has made his home since. Bill was employed at the Washington State University as a grounds keeper until he retired in 1980. He was a member of the Potlatch Post #10300 VFW in Potlatch, Idaho, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting and gardening until he was 90. Surviviors include two brothers, Frank Lynd and his wife, Beulah, of Troy, and Joseph Lynd and his wife, Joyce, of Palouse; one sister, Freda Wright, Greenacres, Wash; three nieces, Necia Wright, Greenacres, Mickey Lynd Vowels and her husband, Rodney, Princeton, Idaho, Merri Lynd Martin and her husband, Wayne, of Kennewick, Wash; four nephews, Ronald Lynd, Spokane, Bob Lund, Troy, Harold Wright, Spokane, and Jerry Lynd, Palouse. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Ray Lynd, Robert Lynd and Elmer Lynd. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Village for the personal care and kindness for our special 'Uncle Bill'. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, with Pastor Kathy Kramer and friend Richard Bailey officiating. Urn burial with military honors with Potlatch Post #10300 will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Memorials may be given to the Palouse EMS at the American West Bank, Box 219, Palouse, WA 99161, the Palouse Library, Box 168, Palouse, WA 99161, or the Potlatch Post #10300 VFW, Box 386, Potlatch, ID 83855. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is handling the arrangements.
