Description	:	William P. Baker was born in Coles county (sic), Illinois, November 9, 1841 and departed this life at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, December 2, 1926, aged 85 years and 23 days. Losing his parents when but a small boy, he made his home with his uncle. He volunteered in the service of his country at the beginning of the Civil war and served during the entire time, being enlisted in Company B 41st Illinois Infantry. Baker was born in Coles county (sic), Illinois, November 9, 1841 and departed this life at his home in Nelson, Nebraska, December 2, 1926, aged 85 years and 23 days. Losing his parents when but a small boy, he made his home with his uncle. He volunteered in the service of his country at the beginning of the Civil war and served during the entire time, being enlisted in Company B 41st Illinois Infantry. He was united in marriage to Margaret M. Hill October 2, 1873. To this union were born five children Jesse F., John A., Mary A. Farver, Henrietta Stahl, and Lucy. One son, John A., passed away in childhood. His wife departed this life February 2, 1883. He was again married on May 23, 1883, to Lunicy Daniel. To this union was born one daughter Sarah Margaret who died in infancy. His wife passed away February 26, 1925. He leaves to mourn his departure his son Jesse F. Baker of Plainville, Kansas, two daughters, Mary A. Farver and Lucy Baker of Nelson, fourteen grandchildren and four great grand children. The funeral service was held at the home in Nelson Friday afternoon, December 3, 1926, conducted by Vincent R. Beebe pastor of the Nelson Methodist church and was attended by a goodly number of neighbors and friends and members of the American Legion. The body was laid to rest in the Nelson cemetery with military honors. CARD OF THANKS. We desire to express our thanks to all those who were so kind during the sickness and death of our father.
