McConnell, who died at the Canonsburg hospital yesterday afternoon from the effects of a stroke of paralysis, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Canonsburg United Presbyterian church. The pastor, the Rev. H. Ross Hume, will be in charge. Interment will be in Oak Spring cemetery. Mr. McConnell was on his way to Canonsburg yesterday morning with a small truck-load of fruit when he was stricken near the Manes grocery store, South Central avenue. He was seen in slump in the seat of his truck and it struck a telephone pole. Before help could reach him he pitched forward to the pavement. He was taken to the hospital where he died at 2 o'clock. He was a resident of North Strabane township, residing on the Linden road near the Hill church, where he operated a fruit farm. He had served as tax collector in that township for 13 years and for nine years he was a member of the school board. He was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian church and a member of the Bible school of that church. He had been a lifelong resident of the district being born in 1869 and was a member of one of its prominent families and was widely known. He was married in 1888 to Miss Etta Speer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Speer of South Central avenue, Canonsburg, who survives with the following children: Mrs. C.M. McClelland, Mrs. J.L. Grimes, Mrs. Thomas McWilliams and W.E. McConnell, all of Canonsburg. J.A. McConnell of North Strabane township is a brother. There are 10 grandchildren.
