Behan, 79, lifelong resident of this county, died at his home in Masonville on Monday June 30m 1952. Funeral services will be held at the Immaculate Conception church in Masonville at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, the Rev. M.J. O'Sullivan officiating with burial in St. Mary's cemetery there. The Rosary will be recited at the family home on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. The Shelly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Behan was the son of Patrick Behan and Anne Gannon, pioneers of Adams Township, the county, Oct. 11, 1872 and resided in that vicinity until his marriage to Mary Devine on May 25, 1898. She died in March 1916 and on Sept. 9, 1919 he was married to Mary O'Brien of Masonville. For several years after his first marriage, Mr. Behan was engaged in farming north of Masonville. In 1893 he moved to that village and devoted himself to buying grain and livestock. A Member of the Catholic church of that village he is survived by his widow, Mary O'Brien Behan, six children by his first marriage – Mrs. Wm. Maloney and Lewis Behan of Masonville, William Behan of Seattle, Wash., Bernard and Vincent Behan of Coggon, and Mrs. Anne Hayes of Cedar Rapids; by two children of his second marriage Joseph and Mary B. Behan of Masonville, 2 brothers, Rev P.J. Behan of Watkins, Iowa and John Behan of Independence, Iowa; four sisters Mrs. Katherine Vitten of Mullen, Nebr., Mrs. George Vinton of Masonville, Mrs. Thomas Cummings of Anamosa, and Mrs. Rose Cashman of Watkins, Iowa, together with 13 grandchildren.
