Description	:	After an illness of not long duration, Mrs. William Behan, died at her home here Friday afternoon, March 12, 1915. Mrs. Behan was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Devine of Ryan, Iowa, and was born in Hazel Green township, Delaware County, Iowa, December 15,1872. On May 25, 1898, she was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Behan. Besides her husband, parents, brothers and sisters, she is survived by the following children; Kathryn, aged 14; William, aged 13; Louis, aged 11; Bernard, aged 9; Vincent, aged 6 and Anna, aged 4. The funeral services were held here at the church... Read More	After an illness of not long duration, Mrs. William Behan, died at her home here Friday afternoon, March 12, 1915. Mrs. Behan was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Devine of Ryan, Iowa, and was born in Hazel Green township, Delaware County, Iowa, December 15,1872. On May 25, 1898, she was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Behan. Besides her husband, parents, brothers and sisters, she is survived by the following children; Kathryn, aged 14; William, aged 13; Louis, aged 11; Bernard, aged 9; Vincent, aged 6 and Anna, aged 4. The funeral services were held here at the church of the Immaculate Conception, and interment was made here in St. Mary's cemetery. Rev. P. J. Behan, of Cedar Rapids, brother of the bereaved celebrated Solemn Requiem High Mass, assisted by Rev. Thomas Conry, of Dubuque College, as Deacon, Rev. T. McElliott, of Cedar Rapids, as Sub-Deacan, and Rev. Father Rooney, of Manchester, as Master of ceremonies. Rev. Father Malloy, of Ryan, delivered the funeral sermon with genuine sympathy and fitting eloquence. He gave emphasis to a thought--a sentiment which all present seemed to feel--that Mrs. Behan needed no eulogy, that her life was a master sermon in itself. Choosing the gospel of the previous Sunday, concerning the miracle of the loaves and fishes, the Reverend speaker dwelt tenderly upon the sweet and holy consolations that God gives to those who live in Him, and trust in His Providence, and offered holy ords of encouragement to all the bereaved ones on whom rested the shades of that gloomy hour. That the grief stricken husband and family have the genuine sympathy of a very wide circle of friends was attended by the large concourse, which assembled to offer by their presence a last token of affection and esteem. As Pastor, Father Lonergan spoke briefly of the loss to the parish in Mrs. Behan's death, and offered tender words of sympathy to the grief stricken. The following are among those from a distance who attended the funeral; Mrs. J. H. Vinton of Whitman, Nebraska; Mrs. John Cashman, Ionia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Callan, of Winthrop; Mr. and Mrs. James Callan, of Cedar Rapids; Ref. J. J. O'Donnel, Monti; James McElmeel, Mrs. Kehoe and Mrs. Hogan, of Hopkinton; Mrs. Kramer, Delhi; Armbrose McElmeel, of Greeley; Ed. McElmeel and wife of Earlville; Mrs. Thomas McCarthry, of Waterloo; Mrs. Thomas McMeel, of Coggon; John Mulvehill, Superior, Wis. A special coach was run from Ryan an over the Illinois Central, which carried about seventy people, also a large number from Monti and Manchester were present. The choir rendered their usual services and two special solos were sung, "Calvary" and "My Home is Heaven. Dearest Mother, thou has left us, And our loss we deeply feel, But 'tis God that has bereft us, He can all our sorrows heel.
