Woodworth engaged in a nursery business in Pittsford township on Sec 23. He sold his nursery stock to Mr. Ferris (The Ferris nursery was in business for many years in Hampton, IA). He then returned to his native county in 1873 with his wife, Jane Miller. NOTE: Pittsford in now a part of the city of Bristow, and is no longer listed as a separate township. The first salesman in the community was John Deere of the John Deere Plow Co., and the next salesman was Will Woodworth. William P. Woodworth held official office in Bennezette, Butler Co., IA 1858 thru 1867 as Trustee and Clerk. He came to Bennezette, Iowa in 1857 and planted his stakes around the southwest quarter of section 35, where he remained until 1872, when he moved out of the county, but subsequently again became a citizen of Butler county by locating in Pittsford. William P. Woodworth was one of the early settlers of Bennezette township. Mr. Woodworth entered the southwest quarter of section 35, Bennezette township, which he improved, and where he lived for ten years. He then removed to Marble Rock, Floyd county, and soon after to Nora Springs, where he built a store and was engaged in the mercantile business about six months. He then came to Pittsford township and settled on section 23, where he was for a time engaged in the nursery business. He sold his nursery stock to Mr. Ferris and returned to his native county in August, 1873, where he remained four years. He returned in 1877 and settled where lived.
