Description	:	William R. Myers, of Spring Grove, passed away March 14, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Bettye J. (Kerchner) Myers. Together they shared over 41 years of marriage. Bill was born in West Manchester Township, on June 21, 1916, and was the son of the late Paul Myers and Leah (Ziegler) Myers. Myers, of Spring Grove, passed away March 14, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Bettye J. (Kerchner) Myers. Together they shared over 41 years of marriage. Bill was born in West Manchester Township, on June 21, 1916, and was the son of the late Paul Myers and Leah (Ziegler) Myers. He finished the 8th grade and worked various jobs until he learned the trade of jewelry making and watch repair. From there he opened his own business in 1948, Myers Jewelry Store, and worked there all of his life until he retired in 1980. Bill loved boating, fishing at Chincoteague, VA, and teaching his grandchildren to swim and water ski. He bowled in a league at Spring Grove Lanes and enjoyed playing the organ. He was a member of Jefferson Sportsman Club, where he liked to hunt and shoot skeet. He was also a member of Christ American Baptist Church in Spring Grove. Bill and his wife were always interested in helping and doing things for other people. They always said "The Lord wants us to help others and there is nothing that makes you happier in life than helping others." In addition to his wife, Bettye, he is survived by his stepchildren, Kenneth R. Roser, Sr. and wife, Vickie of Hanover, Mary J. Wickson and husband, Dan of Hanover, Nancy L. Bisset of New Oxford, and Joy A. Strausbaugh and husband, Earl of Spring Grove; and his grandchildren, Kenneth R. Roser, Jr., Julie A. Myers and husband, Michael, Dale V. Shaffer, Jr., William O. Bisset, Stephen F. Bisset, Chad E. Flickinger and wife, Toni, Matthew Flickinger, and Earl T. Strausbaugh, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel, Emory, Clair, Lloyd, and Clarence Myers; his sisters, Mary Rinehart and Annie Lebow; and his grandson, John W. Bisset. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held March 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Christ American Baptist Church, Spring Grove, with Pastors Todd Witmer and Chet Joines officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson. A viewing will be held the 20th from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
