Description	:	Bettye J. (Kerchner) Myers, 94, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. She was the loving wife of William R. Myers, who passed away in 2013. Bettye was born in Hanover, on May 20, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Nora (Sterner) and Carroll Kerchner Sr. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She was the loving wife of William R. Myers, who passed away in 2013. Bettye was born in Hanover, on May 20, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Nora (Sterner) and Carroll Kerchner Sr. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She was a longtime member of Christ American Baptist Church in Spring Grove. She loved to crochet and quilt, but truly loved teaching children about Jesus through Good News Clubs. She is survived by her children, Mary J. Wickson and husband, Dan of Hanover, Nancy L. Bisset of New Oxford, and Joy A. Strausbaugh and husband, Earl of Spring Grove; her daughter-in-law, Vicky Roser; her grandchildren, Kenneth R. Roser, Jr., Julie A. Myers and husband, Michael, Dale V. Shaffer, Jr., William O. Bisset, Stephen F. Bisset, Chad E. Flickinger and wife, Toni, Matthew Flickinger, and Earl T. Strausbaugh, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Jamie, Tanya, Jennifer, Alysha, Brittani, Megan, Nathan, and Emma; and her great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Mariah and Jalissa. She is also survived by her sisters, Nancy Beyer of Spring Grove, Emma (Dollie) Myers of Spring Grove, Shirley Mandell of Florida, and Kathye Boyle of Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, John W. Bisset; her son, Kenneth R. Roser, Sr.; her sisters, Grace Foller, Norene Bankert, and Patricia Motter; and her brothers, Donald, Carroll Jr., Robert Sr., and Jacob Kerchner. A funeral service in celebration of her life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ American Baptist Church, 730 Menges Mills Road, Spring Grove, with Pastors Bob Coddington and William Mummert officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service next to her husband at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Family services are under the direction of Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. of Spring Grove. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of York, 58 Mount Zion Road, York, PA 17402; or Christ American Baptist Church.
