William Reeve son of William and Susannah Reeve was born in Athens, O., November 5, 1836. He departed this life, April 17 [sic], 1917, being 80 years, 5 months and 12 days of age. In 1849 he came to Iowa with his family and settled in Wapello county and has resided here since, with the exception of three years of army service. December 18 [sic], 1859, he was married to Elizabeth Ann Magee. On August 7, 1862 he enlisted in Company E, Twenty-second Iowa Volunteer infantry, receiving his honorable discharge, 1865, at Savannah, Ga. After the war he returned to the farm and remained there until 1910, when he returned to Agency because of faling [sic] health. Having no children, Mr. and Mrs. Reeve accepted three orphans to rear, Frank Reeve of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Axel Nilsson of Osceola and Joe Reeve of Agency, who were legally adopted. He was a member of the G.A. R. Winslow post 107. His death leaves twelve members remaining in the post. He united with the Agency M.E. church June 12, 1898. He leaves to mourn their loss his afflicted wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeve, one sister, Mrs. James Jay and several nephews and nieces.–Contributed.
