He attended... Read More	LATE WILLIAM R. RINTOUL ACTIVE IN AMARANTH: The death took place suddenly at his late residence, Lot. 16, Con. 2, Amaranth, on Tuesday, March 15th, of William R. Rintoul, a resident of that Township since his early youth and a man who was held in the highest esteem by his neighbours and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Mr. Rintoul was born in Glasgow, Scotland, 79 years ago and was the son of David K. Rintoul and Elizabeth Reid. He arrived in Canada in 1885 and until 1891 resided on Lot 19, Con. 1W, Amaranth. He attended S.S No. 2, Amaranth. From 1891 until 1896, Mr. Rintoul lived on lot 21, W½ con. 1 of that Township and then moved to his late residence. He actively retired from farming in 1950. In 1908 Mr. Rintoul was married to Annie Louise Curtis who predeceased him. Mr. Rintoul was quite active in the life of the community in which he lived for so many years. He was a devoted member of Camilla United Church, being an elder of that church. He possibly set a record in having been a member of the choir of that church for over 40 years. He was possessed of a resonant bass voice and sang the bass part in the Camilla Quartette for many years. For some time prior to 1932 he was secretary of S.S. No. 2, Amaranth. In that year he became Treasurer of Amaranth Township, ably fulfilling the duties of that office until his retirement in 1952. Left to mourn Mr. Rintoul's passing is his son Donald R. of Peterborough, and his daughter Jean, Mrs. Wm. G. Richardson, on the home farm. The largely attended funeral services were held on Thursday, March 17th, at the Turner Funeral Home, Orangeville, and were conducted by the Rev. Frank Sullivan of Camilla United Church. The remains were carried to their last resting place in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Messrs. George Staveley, Lee Johnston, Morton Rintoul, Arthur Curtis, Charlie Scott and Harold Crulkshank. The many and lovely flowers sent in memory were carried by Messrs. Wallace Rintoul, Bruce Moffitt, Fred Staveley, Ross Clark, Clifford Marshall, Clare Trimble, Bob Curtis and Ken Curtis. Relatives and friends from other points included those from Toronto and Hamilton.
