Reitz Died Late Friday WIFE HAD PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH BUT THREE MONTHS William Reitz, 79, well known retired citizen of Nevada, died at the family home, 1220 K avenue Friday afternoon, about three o'clock, following an illness of about a month. Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Lutheran church on Monday afternoon at 2:00, by his pastor, Dr. J. O. William Reitz was born October 5, 1855, at Drenstadt, Germany and died at his home in Nevada, Iowa, August 3, 1934, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was untied in holy wedlock to Miss Elizabeth Momberger, at Akron, Ohio, October 14, 1877. To this union was born seven children one having died in infancy. The living are Louise M. Coker, Peoria, Ill., Wm. C. Reitz, Ellendale, N. D., Harry J. Reitz, Wibaux, Mont., Clarence Reitz, Riverton, Wyo., Elmore L. Reitz, Nevada, Iowa, Mrs. Newton Frey, Nevada, Iowa. Mr. Reitz leaves also two sisters, Mrs. K. E. Loop of Ashtabula, O., and Mrs. Elizabeth Stafford of West Union, Iowa. He also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Upon the arrival of the Reitz family in America they settled at Johnston, Penn. Later the family removed to Erie, Penn., from Erie Mr. Reitz went west to Akron, O. From Akron they migrated to Iowa, settling first in Marshall county, where they lived for a short time. The family then came to Story county where they permanently located in 1896 on a farm south of Nevada. Here they lived until 1914 the year following this was pent in travel and in the fall of 1915 they moved into Nevada which has been the parental home ever since. Mr. Reitz was a member of Memorial Lutheran church until the time of his death. He was a devoted member of the I. O. O. F. lodge, No. 104 in Nevada, having become a member of the same 57 years ago. He was also a member of the Nevada Encampment No. 99, the Ames Canton No. 48, and the Nevada Rebekah lodge No. 234. He has always been a man of the strictest integrity being careful of the promises he made and keeping every one to the letter. His first interest has always centered in his home and those who made up the family circle. He lived for his loved ones and his home. Through the years this man has known sorrow and hardship but his trust was in God who proved an ever present help in time of trouble. Almost three months ago Mrs. Reitz the beloved helpmate of this man was laid away in rest. Now after so short a parting his spirit take its flight to God who gave it. He and his beloved are at rest together in the homeland of the son.
