Description	:	William Reuben Jones, son of Calvin Jones and Miriam "Medda" Teague Watts Jones, married Lucretia C. Watts in about 1860 in Alexander County, North Carolina. They emigrated from Alexander County to Crawford County, Kansas sometime between 1868 and 1870 when they appear in the 1870 Federal Census there. They were in Missouri in May 1868 when daughter Mary Ella was born. They may have been living there or just traveling through on their journey to Kansas. Jones, William Jackson Jones, and Zebulon Watts Jones. ∼Cherokee Sentinel on the Border, Jan. 13, 1888, page 3: Died Jones--At his home near Cherokee, Kansas, on January 10th, 1888, of a complication of diseases, W,R. Jones, aged about 51 years. He was an old resident of Cherokee and vicinity and was a member of the Mormon church. Rev. Davis, of that denomination, preached the funeral service at the house at 11 a.m. January 12th, after which the burial was made in the city cemetery, under the auspices of the A.F.A.M., A.O.U.W., and Vigilance Committee, the first named order conducted the services at the grave. The weather was very inclement, but notwithstanding some 30 or 40 vehicles were in line. The deceased carried a life insurance of $2,000 by reason of his membership in the A.O.U.W. Two members from each of the three orders acted as pall bearers.
