Read More	The Osceola Tribune, Osceola, Iowa August 11, 1959, Page 1 Funeral Monday For Bill Diehl Acute Polio Caused Death Of 27-Year-Old Father Of Four Requiem mass was held in Osceola on Monday morning for William Diehl, 27-year-old native resident of Clarke county and son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Diehl of this community, who died unexpectedly last Thursday at a Mason City hospital. Death was caused by a form of acute polio, according to a diagnosis confirmed by the Iowa State University hospitals. He had entered the hospital on the previous Monday and on Wednesday was reported to be recovering. Rev. Fr. Gerald Deere said the mass at St. Bernard Catholic church and burial was in Shadow Land cemetery here. The Webster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He was born July 8, 1932 in Clarke county and had lived all of his life here until he moved to Mason City five years ago. A former employee of the Clarke County State Bank here, Mr. Diehl was manager of the heating department for the Sears Roebuck Company at the time of his death. A 1950 graduate of the Osceola high school, he had been active in athletics and served as state vice-president of the Future Farmers of America while in school. He was a member of the district Boy Scout council and of the Elks lodge at Mason City.
