MAINS DIES IN HOSPITAL IN OMAHA AT AGE 63 William Riley Mains, resident of Villisca and vicinity nearly all his life, died Monday at 10:10 p.m. in Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, his death resulting from pneumonia. He was taken there ten days before his death, expecting to undergo an operation for gall bladder trouble, but pneumonia developed while he was undergoing treatment in preparation for the operation. His son Sterling was with him when he died. William Riley Mains was born in Boone County, Iowa on February 18, 1867 and he was 63 years old at his death. He was a resident of this vicinity nearly all his life, coming here in his youth. He was married to Violetta Campbell in Villisca on October 31, 1892 and to them were born six sons, one of whom is deceased. Those living are Lester Raymond of Shenandoah, Sebring Sterling, Caroled and Riley of Villisca. The wife and mother died February 13, 1904. Mr. Mains was married November 16, 1927 to Mrs. Emily Dalton, who survives him. He leaves also his mother, Mrs. Amelia Mains, 83 years old, two brothers, Ira of New Market, and Earl W. of southeast Villisca and two sisters, Mrs. T. L. Newman of Red Oak, and Mrs. C. M. Cowell of Des Moines. Mr. Mains was a member of the Baptist Church. His body arrived in Villisca on No 4 Tuesday and was taken the Dressler & Sutphen Funeral Home where it remained until the funeral which was held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Baptist Church. The service was conducted by Rev. Geo. A. Lawton. The singing was by Mrs. F. E. Shane and Mrs. S. M. Joliffe, with Miss Erma Edwards as accompanist, and the pall bearers were J. L. Himiller, Frank Hedstrom, Wirt Barnes, Roy Bowman, A. W. Poston, and John Slack. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery bessie the first wife of the deceased.
