Bill died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his residence. William Bill R. Hengstler, son of A.W. and Dollie (Page) Hengstler, was born December 21, 1932, at Norfolk, Nebraska. He graduated from Creighton High School in 1950. Bill attended mortuary school in San Francisco, California. He served in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955. On June 30, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Person at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton, Nebraska. On June 4, 1959, the couple was blessed with a son, William Scott Billy Hengstler. Bill was a third generation funeral director at his parents funeral home in Creighton, Hengstlers Chapel, and also worked in the family furniture and floor covering store. In 1965, Bill and Pat purchased the business from Bills parents, and eventually discontinued the furniture business. In 1979, they sold the funeral home in Creighton, and its companion chapel in Verdigre. Following retirement, Bill and Pat continued to live in Creighton, and spent their winters in Sun City, Arizona. He is survived by granddaughter, Hannah Hengstler of Chicago, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Dana Hengstler of Chicago; and sister, Roberta Urwiller of Denver, Colorado. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, A.W. and Dollie Hengstler; wife, Pat Hengstler in January 2012; and son, Billy Hengstler in November 2002.
