Darger, 56, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at his residence in Sioux Falls, SD. William Roger Darger, the son of William Clair and Beverly (Doty) Darger was born August 12, 1956 in Langdon, ND. He attended Washington High School in Sioux Falls, and went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy. William was in Aviation Ordinance, and spent over 21 years in the military. He was honorably discharged September 28, 1994, having attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. William was then transferred to the Fleet Reserves. After William's retirement from the military, he moved from Virginia to Texas, where his daughter, Dakota, was born. William then moved back to Virginia for a short time before moving to Sioux Falls. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Dakota of Texas; three siblings, Susan Thompson and her husband, Dan, of Sioux Falls, David Darger of Sioux Falls, Krystal "Kris" Duffy and her husband, Steve, of Sioux Falls; his parents, Clair Darger and his wife, Lori, of Sioux Falls, Beverly Heitman of Sioux Falls; his former wife, Carole Calkins of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Margaret and Adolph Oines; grandmother, Harriet Krull; grandfather, William Ernest Darger; and a nephew, Jesse Thompson.
